In this clip, the throat pleats can clearly be seen.  They expand to allow more water (and thus prey) to be taken into the mouth.  About a ton oft water is scooped up with this type of activity and then the humpback pushes the water back through the baleen plates and swallows whatever is left filtered by the baleen.
